Questions?

Let me consult my crystal ball…

Not at all! My number one goal is to enhance your story — not change it. I’m here to preserve your voice and all the magic you’ve created while helping your manuscript reach its full potential.

What’s the difference between developmental editing and line editing?

  • Developmental editing focuses on plot, structure, pacing, characters, and worldbuilding — the big-picture story stuff.

  • Line editing hones in on the flow of language, sentence clarity, and voice.
In my Fairy GodReader service, you get both. Because great stories need strong bones and beautiful language.

Will your feedback be harsh?

Never cruel, always honest. I’m thoughtful, thorough, and deeply invested in helping you succeed. I’ll tell you what’s working, what’s not, and how to fix it — with a healthy dose of encouragement and zero ego. (Okay, maybe a little sugarcoating. I’m a Cancer, after all.)

Can I book you if I’m not writing fantasy or romance?

Maybe! If your project has strong character arcs, speculative or magical elements, or emotional resonance, I’d love to hear more. Reach out with details and we’ll see if it’s a good fit.

How far in advance should I book?

I typically book 1–2 months out, though I occasionally have sooner availability. If you're on a timeline, reach out early so we can plan accordingly.

Won’t I get an editor if I pursue traditional publishing?

Why should I invest in editing services?

I get it — hiring an editor is an investment, and there are no guarantees in publishing. But here’s the thing: when we work together, I’m not just helping you tweak a draft. I’m making sure your story has all the elements that leave readers hooked and publishers paying attention. Think of it as an investment not only in this book, but in your growth as a writer. You'll walk away with stronger craft, new tools, and more confidence in your voice.

Totally fair point! Editors do come with traditional publishing contracts — but only after a manuscript has made it through the slush pile. That means you have to stand out from page one. Working with me gives you a major advantage: a polished, professional-level manuscript that shows agents and publishers your story is ready for the spotlight.

What services do you offer?

  1. Fairy GodReader – A full developmental and line edit

  2. Mini Manuscript Critique – A critique of your first 5–10 pages

  3. Stand alone Developmental

  4. Stand alone Line Editing

Are you going to rewrite my story?

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes — for services over $500, I offer flexible payment plans to help make the investment more manageable. Just let me know what you need.

Will you help me get published?

While I don’t pitch agents or publishers, I do help get your manuscript submission-ready. I can guide you on next steps, whether you’re querying, self-publishing, or prepping for beta readers.

Why is it called Once Upon a Manuscript?

What kinds of writers do you work with?

I specialize in working with unpublished and self-published authors writing fantasy, romance, or romantasy. If you’re early in your writing journey or still figuring things out, you’re in the right place.

How long will this process take?

It depends on the project and service. Most projects are completed within a month, but I’ll confirm your specific timeline once I’ve reviewed your materials. And once we begin, I’ll keep you updated every step of the way, so you’re never left guessing.

What do I get with the Mini Manuscript Critique?

  • This service includes:

    • Big-picture feedback on your first 5–10 pages

    • Light in-line comments

    • A personalized action list

    • A Loom video walkthrough

    • A 30-minute consultation (recorded)

    • 2 weeks of email follow-up support

Why pay for editing if I have beta readers or critique partners?

Beta readers are awesome — but I offer a professional perspective that’s structured, strategic, and rooted in both craft and market expectations. I’m not here to skim or praise. I’m here to help you level up your work with industry-aligned insights and deep editorial care.

Because every story has the potential to become a fairy tale — and I believe in the magic of turning your manuscript into something unforgettable.
